We bring seaplane aviation closer to people
Crews from Coulson Flying tankers both pulled Martin Mars giant seaplane into the water of the Sproat Lake this week.
I went to see the Viking Air aircraft factory in British Columbia six years ago, then it started production of the new Twin Otter Series 400. The prototype that could not be photographed shown on wheels and its amphibious floats rested himself in the factory courtyard between the old timer seaplanes.
Today the Canadian aircraft manufacturer Viking Air Limited introduced the world’s first dedicated seaplane in the near 20 passenger category at the Singapore Airshow. In the picture you can see the Viking floats 400S will be sold a year’s time.
Austrian and German company united Chinese financial backgrounds and finally will be a new European seaplane, the Dornier Seastar. After thirty years of this seaplane first taking off its production will start and according to the plans this summer Dornier present the first series product Seastar amphibious aircraft.
Year-end retrospective. I think, these facts will speed up the seaplanes to spread to the world. Maybe a new seaplane golden age will be soon?
